Upper Coastal Mitigation Bank

148.76 Acres | Citrus County

Project Details

The Upper Coastal Mitigation Bank is a 148.76-acre conservation area established to provide compensatory mitigation for wetland impacts located in the Upper Coastal basin. The Bank consists of mixed wetland hardwoods, freshwater marshes, and a spring run, along with upland hardwood-conifer mixed forest. The Bank had been degraded by exotic species invasion and prolonged fire suppression, resulting in long unburned wetland and upland habitats. The restoration of the Bank consisted of exotic species treatment and shrub thinning to restore all of the wetland and upland buffer habitats to their optimal condition.

The Upper Coastal Mitigation Bank has freshwater forested and freshwater herbaceous credits available approved by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD).
